At our January 2026 NEPG gathering, Sunita Kumar, founder of Aligned Gold, led a powerful conversation about what actually blocks podcasters from fully expressing their voice … and it’s not the tech, the editing, or even the strategy.
It’s clarity.
Sunita invited us to rethink the idea of a Unique Value Proposition (UVP). Not as a marketing phrase or positioning statement, but as the living intersection of:
- Your unique experiences and stories
- Your skills and knowledge
- Your personal “electromagnetic signature”
That combination – your perspective, your lived experience, your way of seeing the world – is your true voice. And it cannot be replicated.
One of the most impactful distinctions she shared was the difference between resonance and reach.
Podcasting isn’t about reaching everyone. It’s about creating lasting impact with your people. You might be optimizing for the wrong metrics. Download numbers don’t equal depth of connection.
When you root your podcast in who you actually are, something shifts. Your stories become the strategy. Your perspective becomes the point. And the need to chase trends or compare yourself to others starts to fall away.
Sunita also shared how she built her own podcast, Clear Signal, using this exact process – grounding it in her authentic value rather than outside advice about what “works.”
Key takeaways from this session:
- The hardest part of podcasting isn’t the editing – it’s clarity.
- Your UVP is rooted in lived experience.
- Resonance matters more than raw reach.
- You may be optimizing for the wrong metrics.
- Authenticity leads to deeper audience engagement.
- Podcasting is as much inner work as it is content creation.
