At our April New England Podcasters Group meetup, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the incredible team from Queen City Improv – Michael, Shelby, Carly, and Rick – for a truly unforgettable experience.
Based in Manchester, New Hampshire, Queen City Improv has been creating unscripted, in-the-moment performances since 2017, all rooted in their mission of “improv for the people.” Their work is about more than performance—it’s about presence, connection, and trusting what shows up in the moment.
And that’s exactly why this session resonated so deeply with our podcasting community.
Through a series of interactive exercises, our members explored how improv strengthens the very skills podcasters rely on every day—listening deeply, thinking on your feet, and responding with authenticity. The room quickly transformed into a space filled with laughter, creativity, and genuine connection.
From spontaneous moments (yes, including a few playful “marriage proposals” and some spirited taco debates!) to meaningful takeaways about staying present, this session reminded us that the most powerful moments in podcasting—and in life—are often the ones we don’t plan.
We’re so grateful to Queen City Improv for bringing their energy, expertise, and heart to our community.
